🍓 it’s strawberry season on Turtle Island

Ode’imin (o-day-min) is the Anishinaabemowin word for strawberry, it is also sometimes called the « heart berry » for its shape! 🍓
Packed with vitamin C and antioxidants, the heart berries are not only a delicious treat, the whole bushes - including leaves, stem, roots and fruits - are medicinal! Traditionally, Ode’imin has been used for digestive disorders, skin conditions and to strengthen uterus during/after pregnancy!
Ode’imin also part of Indigenous communities’ cultural traditions and teachings. The strawberry bushes are sprawling plants with runners spreading out, similar to the heart, which connects to organs and various parts of your body. We are also reminded that our hearts guide connection between mind, spirit, and body; as we grow heartfelt relationships with families and communities.
👨‍🌾 Buy your strawberries directly from local farms!
🫶🏼 Go strawberry picking and thank the bushes for their fruits!
